Science Outreach : Zelzer Group at Firbeck Academy

Zelzer Group members (Michael, Sunny and Anne), alongside other members of the University of Nottingham organised and ran an outreach activity day (Science WOW day) at Firbeck Academy for children aged 4 to 11. In an attempt to interest the next generation of scientists (hopefully) a range of tasks were prepared to put it bluntly, WOW the students.

New Project Student: Ruggero Foralosso

Ruggero Foralosso will perform his CDT training project with Mischa Zelzer and David Scurr on the analysis of buried interfaces using ToF-SIMS. Ruggero is part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Advanced Therapeutics and Nanomedicines.

Heart Blog Feature : There and Back Again - A Chemist's Journey to Pharmacy

Mischa is featured on the Heart Blog, telling the tale of the twists and turns that led him through his undergraduate studies in Chemistry and up to his lectureship at the School of  Pharmacy.

The Heart Blog features scientists within the healthcare engineering and regenerative medicine fields. Career stories as well as descriptions of current research are two of the common featured themes.

New PhD Student: Deniz Uğur

Deniz Uğur has started his PhD project on the investigation of the effect of protein interactions with nanoparticles designed to deliver cells for therapeutic applications. He is an international student and his PhD is funded by the Nanofar Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in nanomedicine and pharmaceutical innovation. Deniz is jointly supervised by Mischa Zelzer at the University of Nottingham and Frank Boury and Claudia Montero-Menei at the University of Angers in France. He begun his studies in Angers and will later join the group in Nottingham.
