RSC Biomaterials Interest Group Meeting: Zelzer Group Presentations

Mischa Zelzer and Anne Canning kicked off 2015 at the 9th RSC Biomaterials Interest Group Annual Conference held in the beautiful Chemistry Centre at Burlington House.

The conference was held over two days (5th to 6th January 2015) and was chaired by Dr. Sanjukta Deb from Kings College London. Plenary and keynote speakers were presented by leading researchers in the field including Prof. Andrew Lloyd (University of Brighton) and Prof. D Vashishth (Director of the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).

Researchers at different stages in their careers presented stimulating work on topics including antimicrobial surfaces, bone ECM and hydrogels for cell encapsulation. Mischa and Anne delivered oral presentations on the second day. Mischa presented work carried out by Fabio Simoes (post doc) on functional peptide surfaces for the control of stem cell response. Anne presented work carried out with Arianna Pazquazi (placement student) on the design of enzyme responsive materials.
